I am Nanc Johnson and Dogs have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.
I grew up with dogs my dad was a hunting man, we had beagle and a Mixed breed Mutt named Ringo.
When I was 14 I got my first dog a Shelti named Sport who I took Through 4H training and he did very well.
I had a wonderful 4H leader who was ex military we worked with.
I got a doberman in the 80s and worked with the Trainer I got him from for almost a year. And also Taught Obedience as the 4H dog leader for 2 years 81 and 82 traveling 30 miles to hold a class at a school because kids in part of the county had no one to work with.
I learned a lot from my Doberman Nero he was not an easy do. I was young and he was the only dog I ever had to rehome. After Boarding him and having friends help care for him. It was just better for him to have a more stable life and I found him a great home he live a long and happy life with.
In the later 80s I met Lee and we had a house with a yard and we go Sasha our first Shepherds. Having on trainer to work with at that time I started a puppy class so I could train her and help others it was a great experience. I also taught some basic obedience classes before starting work at a pet store where I gave out a lot of advice for free :) Unfortunately Sasha developed Epilepsy and it became uncontrollable when she was just 3 years old. It was so hard living without a dog. But I did have guinea pigs :) as pet for a while. And I started a Pet Sitting business in the 90s when it was pretty new.
We moved to Oregon in 93 right after Lee and I got married more or less and lived in town and a town house for a couple years. When we moved to a mobile home in the country I met my Friend, Trainer and mentor Ken Schilling of Northwest Law Dog a professoinal Trainer we bought our First Shepherd in Oregon from Ace. I have worked with Ken for 14 years and he has taught me so many thing about dog and their behavior and how to get them to work with you by capturing their attention and minds.
I also have raised 3 litter of German Shepherd Puppies and they too have taught me so much. I believe if you teach your puppy the basics by 5 months old you will not have a problem with them. With this blog I hope to share my insights and what I have learned from the puppies in my life and the dogs I have loved.
I will be sharing ideas and tip I use for Trooper to get him started out right and if you have a question please feel free to ask it.
Warm Regards,
Nanc Johnson
